This Christmas, UCB brings Tchaikovsky’s timeless ballet The Nutcracker to London for a special festive performance at Troxy on 23 December 2026.

Inspired by E.T.A. Hoffmann’s The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, the story follows Clara and the Nutcracker on an enchanting journey through a world of snow, dreams and fantasy — from the thrilling battle with the Mouse King to the dazzling Kingdom of Sweets.

Classical ballet remains at the heart of the production. Refined choreography, distinctive costumes and set design, spectacular stage effects and original lighting come together to create a vivid theatrical world while preserving the elegance, music and traditions that have made The Nutcracker one of the world’s most beloved ballets.

Act I — Christmas Eve and the Kingdom of Snow

The Christmas celebration gives way to a world of magic. Clara’s Nutcracker comes to life, toy soldiers battle the Mouse King and an extraordinary journey begins.

Following the battle, Clara and the Nutcracker travel through a shimmering winter landscape where snowflakes dance around them, leading the way towards a distant enchanted kingdom.

Act II — The Kingdom of Sweets

Clara arrives in the magical Kingdom of Sweets, where she is welcomed with a succession of dances and celebrations.

The journey culminates in some of Tchaikovsky’s most famous music, including the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Waltz of the Flowers — bringing Clara’s Christmas dream to its spectacular conclusion.
