About the Performance
Prince Siegfried celebrates his coming of age and is told by his mother that he must choose a bride. During a hunt, he discovers a beautiful swan by a moonlit lake — the enchanted Princess Odette, cursed by the evil sorcerer Rothbart to live as a swan by day. Only true love can break the spell. Siegfried and Odette fall deeply in love. At the royal ball, the sorcerer sends his daughter Odile, disguised as the black swan, to deceive the prince. Siegfried, tricked, declares his love for Odile. Realizing his fatal mistake, he rushes back to the lake. In despair, Odette and Siegfried choose to die together rather than live apart. Their sacrifice and pure love destroy Rothbart’s power, breaking the curse forever.
