About the Production
Giselle is one of the most famous Romantic ballets. The story follows a young peasant girl, Giselle, who falls in love with Count Albrecht, who is disguised as a simple young man. When the deception is revealed and Giselle learns that her beloved is betrothed to another, she goes mad and dies of a broken heart. In the second act, Giselle becomes a Wilis — the spirit of a girl who died before her wedding. Together with the other Wilis, she condemns men to death through an exhausting dance, but, moved by her enduring love, she saves Albrecht from perishing.
