About the Production
The Nutcracker is a classic two-act ballet with music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, premiered in 1892 in St. Petersburg. Based on E.T.A. Hoffmann’s story The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, it follows young Clara on Christmas Eve as she receives a magical nutcracker doll that comes to life. Together they battle the evil Mouse King and journey to the enchanted Land of Sweets, where they meet the Sugar Plum Fairy. Famous for its beautiful score (including the “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” and “Waltz of the Flowers”), it is one of the most popular ballets worldwide and a beloved holiday tradition.
